Var Technology started with a frustration every water polo official knows: the decisive moment happens in a scramble, in a single frame — and there was no affordable way to look again.
So we built one. We rigged our own cameras around the pool, synchronised the feeds, and wrote a review workflow simple enough for a referee to drive mid-match. We tested it at local tournaments, broke it, and rebuilt it — until it held up under real pressure.
By 2024 that home-grown rig was running the World Aquatics Men's U18 Water Polo Championships in Buenos Aires — 20 national teams, 62 matches, eight days of competition.
