Our Commitment to Meeting World Aquatics’ VAR Requirements

In the realm of sports technology, adhering to the highest standards is crucial, especially when dealing with international governing bodies like World Aquatics (formerly known as FINA). At the recent World Aquatics Men’s

U18 Water Polo Championships 2024 in Buenos Aires, our team successfully implemented a VAR system that not only met but exceeded the stringent requirements set forth by World Aquatics.

Meeting the Standard: The World Aquatics VAR Requirements

According to the official guidelines provided by World Aquatics, the VAR system used in water polo must be capable of utilizing seven compact video cameras, positioned strategically to capture goal decisions and rule infractions in full HD quality. The video feed from these cameras must be transmitted to a central computer system located at the officials’ table, allowing referees to review footage in real-time during the match.

In our implementation at the U18 Championships, we ensured that our system was fully compliant with these standards. We provided a setup that included the necessary number of cameras, all recording in full HD at 1080p 50fps. Our system allowed referees to review any incident with precision, utilizing multiple camera angles, slow-motion replays, and frame-by-frame analysis.

Installation and Setup: Following World Aquatics’ Guidelines

World Aquatics outlines specific recommendations for the installation of VAR systems at venues, emphasizing the importance of positioning the cameras and equipment to ensure comprehensive VAR coverage.

During the championship, our team meticulously followed these guidelines, setting up our equipment in a manner that ensured the VAR system functioned flawlessly. This attention to detail allowed us to provide the necessary support to referees while maintaining the integrity of the competition.

Why Compliance Matters

Meeting World Aquatics’ requirements is not just about ticking boxes; it’s about ensuring that the integrity of the sport is maintained at the highest level. By adhering to these standards, we were able to provide a VAR service that was reliable, accurate, and trusted by the officials and teams involved in the competition.

Our successful implementation at the U18 World Championships is a testament to our commitment to excellence and our ability to deliver top-quality VAR solutions that meet the demands of international sports federations. As we continue to develop and refine our technology, we remain dedicated to upholding these standards, ensuring that every competition we are involved in is officiated with the highest level of accuracy and fairness.
